Fifteen Cyclists Seriously Injured in Clare Over Four Years

Fifteen cyclists were seriously injured in road traffic collisions in Clare over a four-year period.

New figures from the Road Safety Authority show this represents just 1% of the national total of 1,324 serious cyclist injuries recorded between 2021 and 2025.

The RSA says the findings form part of a wider report into cyclist safety, alongside the launch of a new national survey aimed at better understanding the circumstances surrounding cycling collisions across Ireland.

Ciarán Tiernan of Better Ennis, who cycles regularly on the county’s roads, hopes the findings will encourage the Road Safety Authority to introduce changes relating to infrastructure, road rules and driver behaviour.
