Fears vulnerable Clare Garda Stations won’t escape second Ministerial cull

There’s renewed concern about the future of rural garda stations across Clare with news the Justice Minister is seeking further closures.

Alan Shatter has said policing isn’t about buildings and insists the move will get more officers from out behind the desk and on the beat.

The Garda Commissioner is currently in the process of identifying how many of the 700 plus stations nationwide will be closed, in addition to those officially shut last week -including Carrigaholt in West Clare.
