Fears thats hospital overcrowding could lead to rise in superbug infection rates

Fears have been expressed that overcrowding in hospitals in the mid-west may lead to a rise in Superbug infections.

Clare Councillors are asking the HSE and the Health Information and Quality Authority to address them on the issue, and to publish results of Hygeine Audits at hospitals and nursing homes in Clare and Limerick, following claims that Superbugs are "rife" in local facilities.

The claims came from Ennis West Councillor James Breen who suffered from the MRSA infection himself some years ago and says it nearly took his life
