Fears That More Accidents Will Occur On Clare Farms Due To Aging Population

Fears have been expressed that more accidents will occur on farms in Clare due to an aging popultion within the farming community.

Figures from the CSO show that of the 16,200 farmers in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary, three quarters are over the age of 45, while 4,000 are over the age of 65.

Half of the farmers here are full-time, though nearly 8,000 are engaged in work off-farm as well.
