Fears Rural Clare Will Suffer Unless Govt Introduce Targetted Measures To Combat Rising Fuel Costs

There are fears that rural Clare will be adversely affected unless the government introduces targetted measures to combat the rising cost of petrol and diesel.

The Government has published it’s Summer Economic Statement, which outlines the parameters for Budget 2023.

The budget will now be held two weeks early on September 27th and an overall package of 6.7 billion euro will see an increased spend on social welfare increases, tax indexation, and cuts to public transport fares.

But Inagh-based CEO of Muintir Na Tíre, Niall Garvey, insists that a ‘one size fits all approach’ to budget supports won’t cut it, saying short-term measures to address fuel costs are essential.
