Fears for Shannon waster water upgrade

Local representatives in Shannon have expressed fears that funding for un upgrade of the town’s wastewater infrastructure could be lost.

The government has already announced it will provide financial support to Clare County Council for the 1 million euro upgrade works at pumping stations in the town.

Clare County Council says the project is ‘urgently’ required, but the local authority also admits it will have to apply to government for a 600,000 euro loan to fund it’s portion of the project.

Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn says businesses and residents in the town are extremely concerned.
