Clare County Council has expressed confidence that upcoming golfing events will leave a lasting legacy for tourism, sport and community development in the county.
Lahinch Golf Club will host one of the biggest team events in amateur golf this coming weekend, as Great Britain and Ireland take on the United States in the 51st Walker Cup on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, some of the world’s leading professional golfers will compete in the star-studded Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg from September 10th to 13th.
Director of Services for Transportation, Climate Action, Environmental and Emergency Services, and the West Clare Municipal District, Dr Carmel Kirby, says the arrival of around 100,000 visitors to the county over the coming fortnight will provide an important boost to the local economy.
