Extra Time Sought For Mother-And-Baby Homes Commission Of Investigation

An extra year is being sought to complete the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes.

The Irish Times reports that the Commission, which was set up after the revelations about the deaths of children at the mother and baby home in Tuam, Co. Galway, is seeking the additional time to do its work because of the workload involved.

Its report was due next month.

The Commission is looking at a total of 13 mother-and-baby homes, including Kilrush, as well as four county homes and Ministers are due to discuss the request for more time next week.
