Examination of Kildysart Killing Scene Expected to Conclude Shortly

A Forensic Scientist has been called in to assist Clare Gardaí in their examination of the scene in Kildysart where South African couple Angelique and Cornelius Billing were killed this week.

Post mortems were carried out on their remains at University Hospital Limerick yesterday and Gardai are awaiting the results of these and further tests.

The Garda Scenes of Crime unit is expected to complete the examination of the scene where the tragic fatalities occured on Mainstreet in Kildysart later today. 

Although it's understood both suffered stab wounds,investigations are continuing in an attempt to find out what exactly unfolded at the home of Angelique and Cornelius Billing on Wednesday evening. 

Post Mortems were completed on the remains of the 27 and 44 year olds by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis at University Hospital Limerick yesterday.

However Gardaí are not expected to release the results of these or other tests for operational reasons. 

Meanwhile the couple's two daughters, aged two and four, are being cared for by a family friend in the county. 

A care order has now been obtained by the HSE and Social workers are working with this person to ensure everything that can be done, to ensure the youngsters have as much support as they needm, is being put in place.

Residents in Kildysart say they'll do all they can to support the girls. Parish Priest Fr. Albert McDonnell says people there are now trying to come to terms with what has happened.

Authorities here are liasing with officials in South Africa and the embassy in Dublin to make contact with relatives of the couple and its understood family members have been notified of this week's tragic events.
