It comes as one mother there speaks of her pride of the huge effort put in place by her sons to keep flood waters at bay.

Residents in Springfield, Clonlara have been working for well over a week now in a battle to keep the floods at bay, including one 15 year old boy who is being hailed as a hero today.

Philip Kinsella, along with his brothers Adrian and Luke, have laid sandbanks and manned pumps outside their home, as well as assisting neighbours.

However, Philip, who suffers from asthma, began to suffer breathing difficulties and had to be brought out through the floods to receive medical treatment.

His mother Bridget is praising paramedics from Scarriff who assisted her son, and says this past week has been very difficult.

It comes as Clare County Council's CEO Tom Coughlan has told local representatives that around 900,000 euro has been spent by the local authority, in response to the flooding here.

This has prompted calls for the Council to be given a funding boost, and for homeowners to be given help too.
