Striking school students in Ennis say they won’t back down until politicians take their message on board.
Large crowds are protesting at the Height in the county town today, as they join their counterparts around the world in calling for stronger action on the climate crisis.
There’s a healthy turnout here in Ennis today for the Fridays for Future demonstration, with students of all ages chanting and holding banners, calling for more to be done to protect their future.
They’re among youngsters protesting in around 150 countries worldwide today; while rallies are taking place in at least 10 locations here in Ireland.
6th Year student at Coláiste Muire in Ennis Eleanor Dagnall-Wise started the demonstrations in Clare earlier this year and is pleased to see how big its grown.
There’s also a strong presence from adults at the protest in Ennis today, who want to come out and support the school children in what they’re trying to achieve.

Transition Year pupil Kate Harty is pleased to see this support and says the climate crisis won’t only impact on the youth of today.
Anyone who can is urged to come out in support of the students in Ennis today.
But for those who can’t, 6th Year student Wiame Kanane has tips for living a more sustainable lifestyle, including cutting out plastic coffee cups and straws.
