An Ennis priest is urging people in Clare not to shy away from checking in on isolated neighbours if they’re concerned for their welfare.
It follows the tragic find of the body of 85-year-old Ritchie Scanlan in Cork City, who had been undiscovered for seven months.

The discovery has shocked people both in his native city and around the country and led to renewed concerns over the isolation of the elderly.
