Ennis Parent Expresses Anger Over Handling Of School Wakling Bus Cancellation

An Ennis parent has expressed anger over what she’s described as the “drastic measures” taken in the wake of a decision to cancel the ‘walking bus’ to her children’s school.

Clare County Council’s planning department is investigating access issues for pupils of Ennis National School, which has been running the facility from Westpoint Business Park for a number of years.

Westpoint Management Company claim the school and the local authority were made aware that the property was no longer available for use earlier this summer and that the move was considered ‘the last and only option’.

The matter is being reviewed by the Board of Management of Ennis National School and the school says it will continue to work with key partners in the arrangement, to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Schools have begun to re-open their doors this week Ennis parent Eimear Horan believes the resource provided a safe route to school, as well as health benefits for children and she’s disappointed with the way the situation has been handled.
