An Ennis mother of four says she doesn't know how to answer her children when they ask – why are we homeless.
Ciara Meehan, her partner and their children aged from nine years to two are living in one room as they've been unable to find a landlord willing to accept rent allowance.
Ciara Meehan her partner and their four children had been in rented accomodation in Ennis until six weeks ago.
Her landlord gave her a months notice as she says she could no longer afford to accept the rent allowance limit of 500 euro.
Since then the family of six has been forced to move in with her partner's mother's two bedroomed flat.
The children are aged 9, 8, 5 and 2.
They are all sharing the one room one child is sleeping on a sofa, two are sharing a single bed while the toddler is sharing a mattress with Ciara and her Partner.
Ciara says she's never felt so low. She's been on the housing list for ten years and turned down a property five years ago as they felt it wasn't in a safe location for the children.
Clare County Council has declined to comment on the case.
Ennis town Mayor Mary Coote Ryan has offered her sympathies to the family.
