Ennis Mayoral Reception Honours Leaders in Arts, Film and Community

A number of inspirational individuals have been honoured at the 2026 Ennis Mayoral Awards for their contributions to arts, culture and the community.

The ceremony was held yesterday at Áras Contae an Chláir to honour people who make a signifcant contribution to Clare.

A mayoral reception was hosted by Mayor of Ennis Cllr Mary Howard on Thursday evening in honour of acclaimed filmmaker and ocean conservationist Ken O’Sullivan, internationally renowned artist Mick O’Dea, and community champions Liz and Rony Barobhuiya.

The event recognised the outstanding contribution each of the recipients has made to community, cultural and artistic life in Clare and beyond.

Clare FM’s Lily Collins attended yesterday’s event and spoke with Mayor Howard, who believes its vital to acknowledge the good work done by people

The reception recognised the outstanding community spirit shown by Liz and Rony Barobhuiya of Henry’s Bistro in Ennis, through their annual Christmas Day Meals initiative.

At the event awardee Ken O Sullivan reflected fondly on his youth in Ennis and how it fortified his love of nature

As the ceremony ended, artist Mick O Dea reminised on his impact the people of Clare have has on his life
