It’s emerged the 1.75 million euro redevelopment of the Ennis Market has been financed with a loan from a state-backed housing body.
It was approved in January 2015 through the Housing Finance Agency – which provides loans to local authorities and bodies for housing and related purposes.

The redeveloped market re-opened a year ago and there have been criticisms of the project, which has been dismissed by some as a “white elephant.”
