Ennis Market Post Office To Close Permanently Next Week

A prominent Clare post office is set to close its doors for the final time next week.

A notice posted by An Post on the door of the Market Street Post Office in Ennis states the facility will “permanently close” at 4pm on Thursday October 31st.

The statement goes on to say that all DSP (Department of Social Protection) payments will be available from the Bank Place branch from November 1st.

It marks the eighth post office closure in Clare since 2018.

In a statement to Clare FM, An Post has confirmed it was unable to fill the vacancy arising at the Market Street branch, after the Postmaster tendered their resignation.

The post office at Market Street, Lower Market Street, will close on Thursday, October 31st and customers will transfer to the main post office at Bank Place about 400 m away.

Our Postmaster at Market Street, had tendered their resignation some time back, we advertised the vacant contract twice but to no avail.

We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused but have put a number of measures in place to assist the smooth transition to Bank Place.
