Ennis General Management warns of extreme pressure on hospital services

Management at Ennis General warn it will be several days before overcrowding at the hospital eases.

With 12 patients awaiting treatment on trolleys last evening, Clare residents were urged to stay away from the county’s Emergency department where possible, with HSE officials saying it was under ‘chronic pressure.’

A HSE spokesman added that its due to a combination of factors including an increase in the number of people suffering from seasonal illnesses like the winter vomiting bug – patients are asked to attend  their local GPs where possible.
