An Ennis Councillor’s making fresh calls for developer-led wastewater infrastructure in rural areas of the county.

It comes amid concern that 51 of Clare’s towns and villages still do not have adequate sewerage facilities, and that this may lead to those areas having land ‘dezoned’ and becoming depopulated in the future.

Clare County Council has committed to ‘engaging’ with Irish Water to put measures in place where the utility may facilitate private infrastructure in certain cases.

Ennis-based Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn says certain provisions contained in the current County Development Plan will need to be changed in the new one.
