Ennis Chamber President Hits Out At Concept Of Living Wage

The President of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce claims the concept of a Living Wage is a “false premise”.

A panel of experts has increased it from €11.50 an hour to €11.70, after examining a number of criteria to calculate what people need to earn for a basic living standard.

However, it’s still €2.50 more than the minimum wage – and businesses can choose to pay their staff the higher rate but aren’t bound by law to do so.
