Funding to the tune of €1.23 million has been approved for a major extension of the headquarters of Clare’s County Fire and Rescue Service in Ennis.

The grant has been issued by the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management and is dependent on Clare County Council being satisfied that ground conditions at the rear of the Fire Station are suitable for development.

The existing building dates back to 1979 and the entire county’s fleet of 39 vehicles are maintained and repaired from a single bay garage there.
