Emergency repair works will begin today at a bridge on a busy east Clare Road.
The Cloontra East Bridge on the Clonlara to Sixmilebridge Road was closed last Monday as a result of structural damage with the county council saying urgent work was needed.
Clare FM’s Derrick Lynch reports:
Cloontra East Brudge has been closed since last Monday, when structural damage was discovered, and emergency remediation works begin there this morning.
For the duration of the works, Clare County Council says it will remain closed to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians
Local access is expected to be restored by next Monday.
In tandem with this, the Council will also conduct repairs on at the nearby Callaghans Bridge, starting next week and from that point there will be restrictions imposed there.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternative rotes via Braodford and Tulla, or via Cratloe and Limerick, and the Council says it will issue further updates in due course.
