The Elliott Centre in Kilkee is being branded an example of ‘thinking outside the box’ in stimulating the winter economy in West Clare.

The Kilkee facility was originally opened to cater for geologists in the area – as a result of COVID-19, it has now opened a work-from-home hub in its offices.

A film crew is also currently producing a feature movie for German television while filming in the area, with the help of the Centre.

The project, supported by the Clare Local Development Company, raised a further €50,000 in fundraising with the help of local residents.

President of Kilkee Chamber of Commerce, Paul Williams, says it’s part of the effort to ensure a year-round economy in the West of the county.
