More Electric Vehicle Charging Points On The Way In Clare

Clare is set to see an increased allocation of electric vehicle charging points in the coming years.

As part of the Department of Transport’s ‘Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland’ initiative, Clare County Council has been tasked with devising an ‘Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy’ which involves delivering charging points at strategic locations.

This county saw the highest electric vehicle sales growth nationwide last year, with 421 units sold here which was up 68% on 2022.

Due to the popularity of electric vehicles as well as steady tourist traffic in Clare, Kilrush Fine Gael Councillor Gabriel Keating says it’s “so important” there are ample places for people to charge their cars.
