The practice of tying election posters around polls is to be stopped in parts of County Limerick in a bid to tackle climate change.
Councillors in the Newcastle West Municipal District have voluntarily agreed not to use posters in their area during the local election campaign.

They hope that other constituencies will follow suit and the rest of the Limerick council would introduce a ban on the plastic posters.
