Clare Government TD’s are seeking clarification from the Education Minister over the absence of Sixmilebridge National School from the new five year building programme.
Saint Finnachta’s was originally earmarked for redevelopment in the school building work programme for 2011but there was bitter disapointment yesterday when it didn’t feature on the new list unveiled yesterday.
Sixmilebridge has experienced a population explosion in recent years with growing demand on the local education services and the current building has been expanded through a series of prefabs which local representatives have branded as unacceptable.
However Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey insists the 5 year schools programme isn’t an exhaustive list and that funding will be provided for projects that need redevelopment.
