Hope That Molex May Not Fully Pull Out Of Shannon

Clare Fianna Fáil TD is expressing hope that Molex may reconsider its decision to fully pull out of Shannon.

The company is to wind down by the end of next year, meaning the 500 employees now face an uncertain future, while a steering committee has been set up to help the workers and secure a new investor for the site.

The issue was raised in the Dáil last evening, prompting Jobs Minister Heather Humphreys to say an application to the European Globalisation Fund for financial assistance will be considered but must not be rushed.

The company has indicated to government that its decision to close the Shannon plant is final.
