Climate Change Supports Could Be Made Available For West Clare

The Minister for Communications has opened the door for government supports for workers affected by the scaling back of operations at Moneypoint Power Station.

Minister Richard Bruton has urged local stakeholders to come together to make the case for supports under a carbon tax-funded Just Transition Fund model, similar to that announced for the Midlands in last week’s Budget.

There, local authorities, and local arms of the IDA and Enterprise Ireland had pressed the case for the midlands to offset the impact of a winding down of peat production.
