The number of people on the Live Register in Clare fell marginally in the past month.
The latest figures from the CSO show more than 4,200 people are still claiming some form of unemployment benefit in the county, though those figures don’t include those in receipt of the PUP.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show 4,205 people signed on last month, a drop of 75 on May’s figure.
The Ennis area once again accounted for the largest portion of those, with 2,225 people claiming unemployment benefit, down 61 over the four weeks.
North Clare also saw a reduction in figures from 702 in May to 657 in June.
Both West and East Clare saw greater numbers joining the dole queues, however, 722 signing on at the Kilrush Social Welfare Office; a jump of 18 and 601 at the Tulla office; up 13.
Overall the county’s figures are down by more than a quarter on the same month last year, however they don’t include the thousands of people claiming the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
Over 2,500 people in Clare closed their PUP and returned to work over the month of June, with 5,235 people receiving the state support into their bank account last week.
