Clare Publican Seeing ‘Quadrupling’ Of Bills Amid Calls For Drastic Budget Supports

A Clare publican says his energy bills have quadrupled as calls continue to mount for drastic supports for small businesses to be announced in next week’s Budget.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe will unveil Budget 2023 on Tuesday, with it widely expected to contain billions of euro in supports for households and SME’s to help combat the energy crisis.

However, what form those supports will be in hasn’t been made clear, and there’s concern in the hospitality sector that its 9 percent VAT rate may be put back up to 13.5 percent.
