East Clare Mother Calls On Government To Extend Maternity Leave

A growing number of mothers are urging the Government to heed calls for maternity leave to be extended.

17 thousand parents nationally have signed a petition, calling for an extension of maternity leave and maternity benefit.

They say that it will be difficult for many mothers to return to work in the absence of childcare, and also argue that they haven’t been allowed a chance to recover during the pandemic, as they’ve been without access to many supports, and to family members in most instances.
