€111,000 has been announced for the upgrade of libraries in Ennistymon and Shannon.
The money is part of a €3 million fund which is designed to help libraries meet their need for COVID-19.
€67,000 will be spent in Shannon, where internal walls will be removed, with glass partitions and a wheelchair-accessible entrance installed.
In Ennistymon, €45,000 will allow for a new boiler and doorway, as well as other associated works.
The Department of Rural and Community Development says all works will be completed by early 2021.
