Over €1.8 Million Funding For Clare Active Travel And Climate Change Measures

Clare has been allocated over €1.8 million euro in funding as part of the July stimulus package, to allow for sustainable transport projects and a range of climate change adaption measures.

1.2 million euro has been allocated to the local authority for 20 different active travel measures including 280,000 euro for an upgrade of cycling tracks between Ennis and Shannon, and 135,000 to provide of new or widened foot paths in Kilrush.

A further 600,000 euro has been allocated for 14 Climate Change adaption measures including 84,000 to provide flood relief works in Whitegate ,and 50,000 to provide provide flood prevention measures to Tulla.

220,000 euro has also been allocated to complete the Blueway trail in Killaloe, which local Councillor Tony O’Brien hopes will prove to be a boost in the area.
