Clare’s Minister of State has defended the Taoiseach’s decision visit the White House for St Patrick’s Day.
Several opposition parties have questioned whether Micheál Martin should engage with Donald Trump, given ongoing tariff threats and the US President’s controversial hosting of Conor McGregor in the Oval Office last year.

Of the 38 ministers heading abroad for St Patrick’s Day, ten are going to the United States, with Clare’s Timmy Dooley heading to Canada.
The Tulla based Minister says Ireland cannot afford to miss out on any major diplomatic opportunities.
