Speaking during leaders’ questions in the Dáil today, Deputy Timmy Dooley accused the Taoiseach of ‘taking a lap of honour’ in the four months since an agreement in principle was struck to tackle Ireland’s debts using the European Stability mechanism.

The Taoiseach and Tánaiste  travel to Brussels later for a meeting of EU leaders, weeks after the Finance Ministers of three European countries called for the ESM to be used only for future debt, a move which would have a negative impact on Ireland.

Enda Kenny is expected to raise the matter with his European counterparts later, but Deputy Dooley says he could and should have done more before this.
