Ireland’s biggest ever Euromillions winner has received over 8,000 euro in a court settlement arising from her claim for damages following on from a road collision 18 months ago.

Limerick native Dolores McNamara received the money in a settlement which followed a mid-morning accident that occurred near her East Clare home on October 27th, 2015.

The 8,401 euro settlement will make little difference financially to Dolores McNamara, who has an estimated fortune of 121 million euro following her Euromillions jackpot win of 2005.

However, it’s understood that the principle involved, rather than the money, was the main issue at play in her decision to take a court case against William Butler of Ballyhea, Charleville, Co. Cork in respect of the October 2015 road accident.

Ms. McNamara’s Mercedes received ‘extensive material damage’ when the vehicle collided with Mr Butler’s white commercial Ford vehicle at Ballyoughnane, Ogonnelloe.

The settlement was cofirmed at a Killaloe District Court sitting at the ‘Brian Boru on the Hill’ licensed premises in Ballina, where a case related to the matter did not proceed after the agreement was struck.

No admission of liability was made.

Ms. McNamara attended the court hearing, but left without making comment or being photographed by the assembled media.
