An advisory notice has been issued encouraging people not to swim at another West Clare beach.
On the advice of the HSE, Clare County Council has put the notice in place in relation to White Strand Miltown Malbay following the detection of elevated levels of bacteria in routine bathing water samples.
Run-off from the catchment after heavy rainfall is believed to be the cause of the elevated levels of bacteria.
The Blue Flag at the bathing area will be removed until the water quality improves in accordance with An Taisce’s Blue Flag programme.
It’s the third Clare beach where an advisory notice has been issued this week, with the notices for Lahinch and White Strand Doonbeg still in effect.
