The Government is being urged to play a greater role to assist Clare parents “seriously struggling” with back to school costs.
A new Barnardos survey has found that 50% of primary school and 60% of secondary school parents are worried about how they’ll be pay for the new term.

The charity is calling for an expansion of the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, to reduce the cost of digital devices which are routinely costing parents up to €430 a year and to promote affordable uniform options.
Manager of Barnardos’ Clare Young Parent Support Programme Ruth Culligan says its a growing concern.
