At a conference in Paris, the world-famous North Clare landscape has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
The decision puts it on the same level as other UNESCO designated sites such as Newgrange and the Giant’s Causeway.
It's also one of only 120 UNESCO Global Geoparks across the world.
Manager of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, Carol Gleeson says that the development of the food industry has been one of the main drivers of economic recovery there in recent times.
