Decision On Next Bishop of Killaloe Hangs In Balance

A decision on who will be appointed the next Bishop of Killaloe hangs in the balance.

An announcement had been expected shortly after Christmas but a spokesperson from the Killaloe Diocese says it has had no contact from the papal nuncio or the vatican since then on the issue.

Kieran O'Reilly stepped down from the position in late 2014 after being appointed Archbishop of the Diocese of Cashel and Emly. 

Fr Brendan Quinlivan says the reason behind the delay in making the appointment remains unknown.
