Tributes Paid To Prominent West-Clare Born Missionary Nun After She Passes Away

Tributes are being paid to a prominent West Clare-born missionary nun who passed away yesterday.

Sister Ethel Normoyle, who was born in Lissycasey, spent more than 50 years in the Port Elizabeth area of South Africa attending to the sick in the area.

Her work in education, children’s health and nutrition gained international recognition, including a visit from Mother Theresa.

It’s understood Sister Normoyle had been diagnosed with lung cancer in the last number of months, and had recently returned to Ireland to be with friends and family.
