Clare’s Independent TD has described as disappointing but not surprising the fact that the Transport Minister has yet to finalise a shortlist of candidates for the position of Chairperson of the Shannon Group.
Almost one year since the departure of Rose Hynes from the position, a Chairperson has yet to be appointed.
Last February Minister Eamon Ryan revoked the appointment of Aaron Forde as chairman of Shannon Group over Mr Forde’s use of social media.
In a statement to Clare FM news, the Department of Transport has confirmed that the Public Appointments Service will forward a shortlist of candidates to Minister Ryan for his consideration shortly and that the Minister intends to appoint a new Chairperson as soon as possible thereafter.
Scariff Deputy Michael McNamara says the ongoing delay is unnecessary.
