A former Mayor of Clare has accused energy companies which increase consumer prices as soon as wholesale prices go up of “unfairly price-gouging”.
The latest figures from the CSO show wholesale electricity prices have dropped more than 42% in twelve months and 13.5% between March and April.
Councillor Johnny Flynn believes that if companies increase consumer prices as soon as wholesale prices rise, there should be a reduction in the amount customers are billed for when prices fall.
