Former Clare Mayor Says Shannon Heritage Sites Transfer Vital For Economy As Takeover Deal Looms

A former Mayor of Clare says the swift transfer of Shannon heritage sites to Clare County Council is vital to both the local economy and the tourism sector.

It comes as representatives from the local authority met with Department Of Transport officials yesterday, with a view to establishing the funding and regulatory conditions required to facilitate the proposed takeover.

The Council says that while an agreement has not yet been reached on the transfer of the management of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Craggaunowen, Knappogue and the Cliffs of Moher Gift Shop from the Shannon Airport Group, positive engagements are taking place.
