Fear That Population Targets In Clare County Development Plan Will Cause ‘Panic’ Amongst Public

A West Clare Councillor insists the population targets governing the County Development Plan will cause ‘panic’ amongst the public.

A special meeting of elected representatives took place yesterday afternoon to discuss submissions received to the overall Draft County Development Plan 2023-2029.

Lisseycasey-based Fianna Fáil Councillor PJ Kelly, was the only councillor who refused to support the draft, with all other councillors giving their approval for the plan to be made available to the public.

Councillor Kelly took a stand against the plan on a number of issues, one being the absence of advice on the legality of enforcing limits on expansion.
