Ennis Residents ‘Prisoners In Their Own Homes’ Due To Alleged Anti-Social Behaviour

Residents in an area of Ennis say they feel like ‘prisoners in their own homes’ due to alleged ongoing anti-social behaviour issues.

Elected representatives were told at a meeting last night that a local community has been living in fear for a number of years around the vicinity of the county town, and that they have now ‘had enough’.

Residents detailed issues regarding alleged violent behaviour, excessive noise late at night and significant littering.

It’s understood complaints have been made to Clare County Council’s Tenancy Enforcement Officers, though the local authority has told Councillors it can’t ‘substantiate’ these grievances.

 

Mayor of the Ennis Municipal District, Fianna Fail Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy, says all residents must be able to avail of the right to remain safe in their homes.
