A member of Clare’s Joint Policing Committee is expressing concerns that speeding on a stretch of road in Lisdoonvarna may lead to someone suffering a serious injury or death.

Members of the Committee have heard fears that the road between Benn’s Cross and the Hydro Hotel does not have sufficient public lighting or footpaths available for use.

The road’s speed limit is 80 kilometres per hour, with concerns raised that the influx of Ukrainian refugees in the North Clare town may be unfamiliar with the dangers of the road when walking on it.
