A Clare TD has issued a stark warning that if the Garda Commissioner’s plan to revert to the pre-covid roster isn’t reversed, it will have devastating consequences for rural Ireland.

It comes as the Garda Representative Association is due to meet with Drew Harris today to discuss the controversial “Westmanstown Roster”, which is due to come back into effect on November 6th and will require Gardaí to work six days in a row instead of the current four.

A report finalised in 2019 known as the Roster Reform Project Report, which it’s been confirmed was seen by the Garda Commissioner, found that the roster results in an immediate 20% reduction in resources per Garda unit and leads to “ineffective supervision and management”.
