Clare TD Tables Dáil Motion On Expansion Of Hospital And Nursing Home Services

A Clare Independent TD will table a motion in the Dáil today to expand medical assessment units and injury units to model 2 hospitals such as Ennis.

The motion put forward by Scarriff Deputy Michael McNamara, proposes that units should made 24-hour services in the likes of Ennis, Nenagh and St. John’s Limerick to reduce overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick.

The motion also proposes having a designated medical officer in every nursing home and replacing paper-based medical records with an electronic system.

Deputy McNamara says that the motion doesn’t set out to undermine government efforts, but rather suggests changes that could have a positive impact on overcrowding.
