The RTB’s rent index for the third quarter of this year suggested rental prices jumped by 17.5 in Clare percent from the year prior.

The body says the average standardised rent in this county at the end of September was 907 euro – up from 772 euro 12 months before.

Only Longford and Leitrim have seen greater percentage rises in the same timeframe.

Neighbouring counties of Limerick and Galway have seen among the lowest percentage increases in the country, though they’re still at 6.1 and 10.7 percent respectively.

Data on just two of Clare’s five electoral areas has been provided in the report.

It states standardised rents in Ennis are fast approaching the 1,000 euro mark and now stand at 990, having stood at just 756 12 months prior.

Shannon’s standardised price is now 942 euro having been 844 a year ago.

The number of new tenancies here grew by less than 1 percent in the past year, showing that supply continues to be an issue in Clare’s rental market.
